What You Can Expect

Each class begins with a warm introduction to our workshop, followed by demonstrations of key techniques. From there, you will work on your own project with the support of our upholsterers. You will learn how to strip back furniture, prepare frames, handle fabrics and apply finishes that last. By the end of your session, you will have transformed an item with your own hands and discovered just how rewarding upholstery can be.

Our classes also provide insight into the wider world of design and furniture making. Many students find themselves inspired to continue learning or to start refreshing furniture at home. For others, it is simply a creative retreat, an enjoyable way to spend time in a professional studio while making something truly personal.

Jerome’s service is excellent. My company needed 3 items reupholstered and Jerome provided a quote with plenty of relevant fabric choices.
He collected each item individually and quickly returned each, keeping us up to date on the process.
Jerome’s customer service and punctual turn around of the items was great.
Well recommended.

John, Tunbridge Wells

We had four porter-style antique armchairs, a sofa and a chaise-longue extensively repaired and re-upholstered by Jerome. His work was meticulously professional, completed to a very high standard and delivered on time and to budget. His artistic judgement is thoughtful, helpful but never intrusive. This was a complicated and expensive job which he excelled in. We are already repeat customers.

Mr Paine, Horsmonden

Jerome’s work is amazing and he is a pleasure to do business with. I and my chair thank him!

Phoebe, Tunbridge Wells

“Thank you, Jerome. I am absolutely delighted. For anyone who is thinking of using Jerome Shorter, if you are dithering as to whether to use him – dither no more. Highly recommended.”

Mr. Jonathon Cuff, Orpington

“Brilliant service. Cannot recommend Jerome Shorter highly enough. We will definitely use him again.”

Katja Sinclair Interior Design, Tunbridge Wells

“Thank you so much for the fantastic work and all the guidance you gave us along the way. We would recommend Jerome again and again.”
