Weekend Upholstery Courses

At Jerome Shorter Furniture, we are passionate about sharing the art of traditional and modern upholstery with those who value skill, creativity and detail. Our weekend upholstery courses are designed for anyone eager to immerse themselves in a hands-on experience, whether you are a beginner exploring a new hobby or a maker keen to refine existing techniques.

Learning in our Tunbridge Wells workshop gives you direct access to master craftsmen in a professional environment. You will gain practical knowledge, discover new tools and methods, and enjoy the satisfaction of completing your own project to take home. With small class sizes and a supportive atmosphere, every participant benefits from personal guidance and meaningful time at the bench.

We believe in more than just teaching processes. Our aim is to inspire confidence, nurture creativity and help you understand why upholstery is both a craft and a discipline. By the end of your weekend course, you will not only have a finished piece of furniture but also the confidence to continue your upholstery journey.

Jerome’s service is excellent. My company needed 3 items reupholstered and Jerome provided a quote with plenty of relevant fabric choices.
He collected each item individually and quickly returned each, keeping us up to date on the process.
Jerome’s customer service and punctual turn around of the items was great.
Well recommended.

John, Tunbridge Wells

We had four porter-style antique armchairs, a sofa and a chaise-longue extensively repaired and re-upholstered by Jerome. His work was meticulously professional, completed to a very high standard and delivered on time and to budget. His artistic judgement is thoughtful, helpful but never intrusive. This was a complicated and expensive job which he excelled in. We are already repeat customers.

Mr Paine, Horsmonden

Jerome’s work is amazing and he is a pleasure to do business with. I and my chair thank him!

Phoebe, Tunbridge Wells

“Thank you, Jerome. I am absolutely delighted. For anyone who is thinking of using Jerome Shorter, if you are dithering as to whether to use him – dither no more. Highly recommended.”

Mr. Jonathon Cuff, Orpington

Katja Sinclair Interior Design, Tunbridge Wells
