Here at Jerome Shorter, we have been proudly providing a bespoke upholstery service to people in Hastings and the surrounding areas for many years. We believe that top quality upholstery is about so much more than just fabric, it’s about the look and feel of a piece of furniture. That’s why all our staff are classically trained and encouraged to be passionate and dedicated to their craft. They are also encouraged to work with you, our client, to design and develop something that is completely unique to you and, importantly, fits within your home like it should do. We also endeavour to create furniture that is functional and durable, too.

Our team has decades of collective experience in the upholstery business, and we have a deep-rooted passion for our work. We are committed to constantly learning and pride ourselves on using the very latest computer-aided design technology, meaning we can not only draw up your dream furniture designs, but we can show you and involve you in the process also.

Here are the four key steps to making your custom upholstery dreams come to life:

  1. First and foremost, you need to get in touch. Until we know who you are and what you want, our collective upholstery journey can’t begin!
  2. Next up is a site visit. That’s right, we will likely want to come and visit your home to get a proper feel for your décor and personal brand. We want to get things absolutely right, and this is the start of that journey
  3. Next, we will hand over to our expert designers, who will work with you to get everything exactly how you want it – we won’t move on until you’re happy
  4. Then we get to the exciting bit – our master craftsmen will start turning designs we have on paper into a reality you can touch – creating your dream furniture and delivering it right to your door

Jerome’s team took on a very challenging task of reupholstering an Ottoman for me with my own fabric. They took so much care, and there was such great attention to detail. Jerome and his team has just completed the recovering of eight large leather dining chairs and a full set of fabric outdoor furniture (chaise, sofas and 10 dining chairs). These had all been owned and used for many years and we had feared they would require replacing. Not so! Jerome collected sad looking furniture and delivered back what looks like brand new replacements. Our furniture has been given a new lease of life and we couldn’t recommend Jerome Shorter Furniture enough. Not only is the work first class but the service and communication was exceptional. We wanted to recycle some modern leather dining chairs rather than replace them but we couldn't find the right contact who we trusted to do what we needed - we found Jerome and he immediately understood what we wanted and gave us some great advice and ideas. We are now extremely pleased to have 8 re-covered chairs which look amazing and so much better quality and value than buying new! The quality of the work is superb and we can't recommend Jerome and his team highly enough. I had three pieces(a sofa and two wing chairs) to re-upholster which had never been in the same room together before. Mr. Shorter took pictures of the pieces and the carpet they had to coordinate with and gave me some design ideas. This did not work. He recommended stores where I could obtain swatches of fabric. After numerous attempts on my own Mr Shorter came again to my apartment and selected fabrics I had not thought to combine. A perfect choice and I could not be happier with the result-a fresh, colourful, contemporary design for the entire room. Excellent reupholstering for old furniture. I highly recommend Mr. Shorter to anyone who wishes to add new life to one or more pieces.
