Custom Made Upholstery Sussex
The creation of upholstery in Sussex that is both highly functional and aesthetically enduring requires patience, experience, knowledge, material expertise and a comprehensive understanding of the underpinnings of great upholstery.
Those underpinnings are crucial to the finished product and include:
- The frame – The frame should be constructed of a quality hardwood such as beech, ash or mahogany in order to provide robust support. The frame also establishes the overall shape and volume of a chair.
- The springs – Springs play a subtle but crucial role in establishing comfort. They should be of the highest quality and need to provide just the right amount of give when one sits down.
- The deck – The deck is that combination of fabric and padding that separates the springs from the cushions. It needs to be durable and not compromise the function of the springs or the cushions.
- The cushions – The cushions are the part of a chair or sofa that we have the most direct contact with. If your cushion experience is bad, your experience of the chair will be bad, regardless of what else it has going for it.
Our Process
At Jerome Shorter, we have a well-established process for ensuring the success of each project. It begins with our attitude, which is that every project is unique. We receive your enquiry either by phone, email or our contact form. We will usually want to talk directly to you at some point and we will need to see photos of the furniture in question.
Should our artisans deem it necessary we will request a visit to your Sussex home so that we can assess the piece or pieces in person. During the visit, the designer will listen to your input, provide suggestions and recommendations on materials, colours and other aesthetic and functional elements and work with you to arrive at an upholstery solution that dovetails with your wishes.
We leave the high-pressure sales techniques to others. No fabrication of any kind occurs until you are 100% satisfied with the proposed upholstery.
Sussex Re-upholstery Service
Do you have a worn piece of furniture that needs a new lease of life? Perhaps a family heirloom that’s seen better days, and doesn’t match your décor, but that you feel compelled to keep? Before you even consider throwing these things away, have you considered how a professional re-upholstery service could bring your old furniture into the 21st century?
Here at Jerome Shorter, we have been proudly providing a bespoke re-upholstery service to people in Uckfield and the surrounding areas for many years. We can take your antique sofa and not only bring it back to life, but bring it in line with your décor. This gives you the best of both worlds – a piece that is steeped in history but also that looks and feels great.
We’ve been doing this for many years and have built up a reputation as a company that you can trust. We employ only the very best, classically trained staff who take a huge amount of pride in their work. They also put you at the very heart of what we do – with collaboration, teamwork and togetherness being some of our key values.
We strive to create a special relationship with our customers to ensure we can deliver exactly what you want at an affordable price. And, given the state of the world right now, we appreciate that affordability is hugely important to everyone.
